My name is Kathie Gilson, My parents are Dr. Nelson and Lorene Trick. The best gift my mother ever gave me was to teach me to sew. She had unbelievable patience.I learned to sew before I entered the first grade and have not stopped! I made clothes for many years and even took some tailoring classes.
After my three children grew up and I became a grandmother, I decided I wanted to make quilts for my two young grandsons. That was 18 years ago and I have not returned to making clothes. I caught the quilting bug and very quickly ran out of all my scraps.
Now, I have five wonderful grandsons and have long ago lost count of all my quilts.
Right now I have sixteen quilt tops that are ready for quilting. I am retiring from 25 years of teaching mathematics and am starting a longarm quilting business.
I am part of a wonderful group of quilters called the Kyle Quilters.
My sisters Malenda and Victoria also enjoy quilting. Victoria designs quilts and Malenda makes quilts as gifts when she takes a short break from her true love which is painting!
